Alaska in Rocinante

Hello Friends and Family

This is our first attempt at putting together our blog for our trip. We are headed for Alaska starting May 3 and will be gone until the first of September. Four whole months! We have been busy planning, getting the camper and truck ready, preparing for all of those things that happen while we're gone, and in general, psyching ourselves up for a great trip!

We will head to Seattle to Chris's apartment for a short time, then travel through British Columbia, and the Yukon (Canadian Territory) and into Alaska. FYI this picture was taken on an Alaskan cruise we took with Chris last year (2009). Rocinante is our camper, named for Don Quixote's horse.

  1. Hi Ms. Dixie.
We are reading your blog and hoping you have a great time. We can't wait to read more.
Cielo, Nathan, and Keila did a wonderful job dancing in the Cinco de Mayo performance. Jesus is gone for a few weeks with his father.
Love, Mrs. Castellanos and Room 18.

  2. Hi Room 18! I was so happy to hear from you! I wish I could have seen Cielo, Nathan and Keila dance! And
I'm happy for Jesus that he gets to see his father, but
    wish he wouldn't miss school!

We are in Seattle, and I will post some special blogs
for the children, so watch for them!

  3. Hi John and Dixie,
All is the same down here in SD. It is drizzly today and cool.
I love your blog and reading all about your adventures. I'm back to walking in the morning, but still have my nasty cough. Bridge is this afternoon. I will say hi to everyone for you.
    Miss you madly,
    Darlene
