A real landmark for both Glacier and Waterton Parks is Chief Mountain. It is highly visible from the Canadian side, and the outline of an Indian Chief's head is clearly seen on that side of the border.
On the US side, it is still just as prominent but the image is very different. This mountain is sacred to the Indians and off limits to outsiders. It is still used as a vision quest for the young male Indians.
