In the middle of the Alaska Highway

We crossed the highway to an overflow parking area to read some signs, and John marveled at how this two-lane road was the major thoroughfare for the entire state of Alaska.  There was no traffic, so he stood in the middle of it to have his picture taken.

Then a big truck came along, and left a cloud of dust – a reminder of the dirt and mud this road generates throughout its entire length!
