The Wings Above Our Heads

Eagles at Valdez

Out campsite is truly a wonderland of wildlife.  From our window, we can watch the sea lions and otters playing below us.  They are too far out, and stay low in the water, so we didn’t get good pictures of them.

But we can watch eagles soar both from the front and back of our camper.

Since the fish are just beginning to run, the eagles, both Bald and Golden, are perching above the water in trees right by us.  We are still in awe just seeing them.

We did hear some stories of small dogs and cats being taken by the Eagles.  One woman, with her cat (The only one I’ve seen, by the way) was sitting outside with the cat on a leash.  She was watching the eagles overhead, and said a lady in Haines  they were next to the previous week, had lost her cat to an eagle.
