Day 31 – 4,689 miles, a month on the road & Anchorage
Today we acknowledged that we had been on the road for exactly one month. We have traveled 4,689 miles and we still feel like we are just getting started. The road from outside of Palmer to Anchorage is freeway, the first we’ve experienced since we left Vancouver BC. Anchorage feels very industrial. It is a commerce center. It is not the capitol and not a major port city. However, 42 percent of the entire population of Alaska (686,293) lives in Anchorage! We have a stop here to reprovision, recharge all of our electrical items, do laundry, and get on the Internet. We will be here two days in a regular RV park, and we don’t like it. We have lots of close neighbors, kids, dogs, music, cars, etc. and the sooner we can get done the better! Our RV park is called the Golden Nugget and is billed the best in town. There are only two, and its true the second one is worse.
So the best I can say about Anchorage, is that we are following the spring flowers and
everything here is just starting to bloom. One lady told us that 10 minutes out of Anchorage in any direction is where the real Alaska starts – and we agree!
